Carbon Emissions in Transportation: A Synthesis Framework

With the growing concern worldwide regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and their impacts on human health environment, transportation has become a central theme in mitigation, responsible for 15% of anthropogenic GHG, 23% global energy-related, 8.7 Gt CO2-eq emissions. This study’s objective was to comprehensively review current state carbon mitigation sector. conducted through systematic literature based multi-level perspective socio-technical transition theory structural contingency theory. In total, 30 papers covering 3561 original articles were selected full-text examination. The main findings related fact that order build resilience against climate change, services must adapt scenario act quickly avert future changes. Enablers, barriers, benefits, disadvantages, metrics emission reduction identified. A comprehensive framework dynamic co-word analysis emphasised interrelationships among dimensions sustainability transportation. Important trade-offs are context-dependent should be adapted different countries transport modes succeed. study sheds light need investigate mitigation’s often-neglected consequences disadvantages.
